Hosted by Niche Media, The Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) is Australia’s largest and most successful independent design awards program. Launched by inside magazine in 2003, the program celebrates the best of Australian interior and product design across 11 categories and five Special Awards.
The program has been growing steadily each year, and now attracts hundreds of entries from practices and designers from across Australia. In 2015, we received the largest number of entries ever, establishing IDEA as the premier awards program for interior designers and architects. Entries are judged by a panel of design industry professionals, each of whom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the judging process. As well as attracting submissions from some of the country’s leading architecture and design firms, the program also helps to support emerging local designers. We are proud to be associated with some of the key manufacturers and distributors within the Australian design industry. (For more on these organisations, see our Sponsors page.)
All shortlisted projects are published in a special shortlist edition of inside magazine, appear on the IDEA and Australian Design Review websites, are on display during our new format Jury Day and evening ‘Designer of the Year’ event.
Winners are determined by the jury, with winners announced at the IDEA Gala Party in November. In addition, winning projects and designers will be published online and profiled in a special IDEA 2016 edition of inside magazine.
120 shortlisted, highly commended and winning projects will also feature in the third annual Life Spaces book, a large format hardback book, sold nationally through leading booksellers.
Early bird entries (submitted before 28 March 2016) will attract a discounted entry fee of $190. Entries received after this date will be charged the standard entry fee of $290, with entries set to close at 4pm EST Friday 27 May 2016. Subsequent entries will attract a fee of $190.
